The 2012 Progressive Insurance Tampa Boat Show closed Sunday with initial reports from several exhibitors of quality traffic and stronger sales than in previous years.
The three-day event was held at the Tampa Convention Center.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Washington Redskins football game on Sunday and the Super Boat National Championship & Seafood Festival, which was held Friday through Sunday in Clearwater, detracted from overall attendance, which dropped 23 percent from 2011, to 12,556, according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, which produced the show.
“We had a great show as a first-time Sea Hunt dealer and we doubled our unit objectives. The turnout and traffic on the boats was great and we look forward to being an even bigger part of the 2013 show,” Pro Marine’s Ron Reeves said.
“We have lots of new leads from the Tampa Boat Show. I am pleased with the number of quality attendees,” said Ron Johnson of Chris-Craft of Tampa Bay.
“First-class setup by the NMMA equated to a great weekend for us,” noted K.C. Scott, of K Scott Under Water.
