Trawlerfest Newport Postponed
Active Interest Media’s Marine Group announced it postponed Trawlerfest Newport amid the continued shortage of new and brokerage boats and concerns about the spread of the Covid-19 Delta variant. The show had been scheduled for Aug. 26-28 and was the first time the Passagemaker magazine event was being held in Newport, R.I.
Soundings Trade Only and Passagemaker are part of the AIM Marine Group.
Julie Jarvie, AIM Marine Group vice president of marketing and events, said in a statement that the next scheduled Trawlerfest, to be held in Baltimore, runs Sept. 29-Oct. 3 as an all-outdoor event, including all seminars and social gatherings.
“We feel that this will ensure both confidence and comfort at this time by providing the safest environment possible for all attendees, vendors and presenters,” Jarvie said. “We are excited to report firm commitments already of over 25 boats to attend Trawlerfest Baltimore, and we expect that number to grow dramatically in the coming weeks.”
A date for the 2022 Trawlerfest Newport has yet to be determined.
The Marine Group said those who had planned to attend the Newport show can transfer their tickets to Baltimore, Trawlerfest Stuart in November, or receive a full refund. Email JZub@aimmedia.com for information.
