Florida led the nation in the number of searches for powerboats and sailboats in April, according to the monthly figures released by BoatTraderOnline.com, the Internet listing service.

The numbers of searches originating in the Sunshine State more than tripled the number for runnerup California in each of the two categories.

A total of 6,342 sailboat searches originated in Florida, compared with 2,096 for California. In the much larger powerboat category, Florida had 53,106 searches, compared with California’s 15,342 and 14,774 for third-place Texas. The Lone Star State also was third in the sailboat category, with 1,352.

Michigan finished fourth in each sector, with 9,458 powerboat searches and 1,211 sailboat searches.
