Data Tracker: Sea Ray, Hatteras lead YachtWorld searches

Last month, our Data Tracker article looked at the brands of boats most searched by visitors to This month, we look at the top 10 brands that visitors to typed into their search criteria between January and July.

The first thing we notice is that Sea Ray is atop both lists. This brand not only has an avid following that has grown over generations, but it also has models that range from 18 to 60 feet, increasing its chances of showing up on both sites. carries models of all sizes, including boats for sale by their owners, so it has more listings of small boats than of large ones. As a brokerage site, is weighted toward larger yachts, something visitors understand, and they search accordingly. In fact, Bayliner (No. 10) is the only other brand that makes both lists; it’s the third-most-searched on Boat Trader.

A desire to fish offshore is apparent on this list, as it includes brands such as Hatteras (No. 2), Viking (No. 3), Tiara (No. 5) and Bertram (No. 7). There are also two sailboat builders, Catalina (No. 4) and Beneteau (No. 6), which reflects a common desire among site visitors to cruise on an extended basis. Cruising, in fact, is something every one of these top 10 brands can accommodate.
