During the winter, we ran a study of the classes of boats that visitors to Boat Trader searched for most often in the last three months of 2013. Leading the way was the versatile and typically affordable center console, followed by the family-friendly and equally versatile cruiser, in the same positions they held a year earlier.

Throughout the top 10 there was little change. Saltwater fishing and bass boats traded the third and fourth places, and ski and wakeboard boats rose from 12th place to eighth as houseboats dropped from eighth to 11th.

High-performance boats lost ground, moving from 11th to 13th; cuddy cabins climbed one place, to 12th. Two classes moved into the top 20 — aluminum fishing boats and trawlers — as flybridges and flats boats slipped to 21st and 22nd, respectively.
