DataTracker: Desktop vs. mobile searches

During the last three years, visitors to BoatTrader.com have increasingly used smartphones and tablets to search and shop for boats.

As predicted, visits to the site in 2014 via mobile devices began to exceed desktop visits. But in a surprising turn, even as mobile visits continued to rapidly climb, the decline in visits from desktops suddenly slowed. Since January, monthly visits have been lower by only single-digit percentages. It’s likely that consistent use of work computers is effectively putting a floor under the numbers, but we’ll have to wait and see in 2015 how much higher mobile traffic might climb — and whether desktop traffic will level out altogether.
