What is the average price of boats offered for sale on Boat Trader, and how does it change from year to year? During 12-month periods in the last three years that we measured, between 180,000 and 240,000 listings appeared on Boat Trader and our review shows that, for the most part, average prices rose during the past year.

The biggest change was in the popular 20- to 24-foot range, where prices climbed to more than $30,000. The only dip in average price was in the smallest category — boats 14 feet and shorter.

We included three years of data in the adjacent table to add perspective. In the smallest size range, for example, prices took a big jump in 2013-14 and then settled back a bit, yet were still significantly higher than in 2012-13.

The largest boats have the most variability in pricing because of a smaller number of boats listed and a wider range of price points.
