DataTracker: Searching for favorite brands

datatracker

We report often on the top brands searched on the Boat Trader website by its 2 million to 5 million unique monthly visitors, a number that varies by season.

Our latest top-10 data are from last year’s fourth quarter. Between 2 million and 2.5 million visitors were searching boat listings at the site, and we compared the ranking for that quarter with the one for the same period in 2012.

In season or out, Sea Ray seems to maintain its dominance as the most-searched brand. That was the case during both time periods, when there were roughly three times as many searches for Sea Ray as there were for any of the brands ranking second through fifth. The order of those brands, though somewhat tightly reshuffled, saw Bayliner rise to second and Boston Whaler slip to fourth, behind Ranger.

Grady-White, Wellcraft and Chaparral all moved up, compared with 2012. Lowe and Formula dropped out of the top 10 and were replaced in the eighth and ninth spots by Contender and Chris-Craft. Holding down the tenth spot once again was MasterCraft.
