DataTracker: Used-boat inventory by length

datatracker

Periodically we take a snapshot of the inventory of boats listed for sale on Boat Trader. Last month we showed price distribution, and this month we focus on length for the 12-month period from Dec. 1, 2012, through Nov. 30, 2013.

The chart at right shows that the largest number of used boats listed fell between 20 and 24 feet. Close to one third of the roughly 100,000 used-boat listings displayed at www.boattrader.com fell into that popular size range.

The chart also shows that the 15- to 19-foot and 25- to 29-foot categories ranked second and third in popularity, respectively. It also shows about 10,000 listings for boats 40 feet and longer.

This article originally appeared in the February 2014 issue.
