Stephane Cordeille was promoted to CEO of Thetford Corp.
Cordeille joined Thetford in 1988 as sales manager of its French subsidiary. He served as director of sales and marketing and director of European operations before being named managing director of Thetford’s RV Europe operations in 2004.
Prior to joining Thetford, Cordeille headed the merchandising team for Gloria-Friskies, a unit of Nestle Corp.
It also was announced that Peter Struijs was promoted to chief financial officer, worldwide. Struijs, who joined Thetford in 1999, has been the European director of finance and information technology since 2006. Before that, he was the company’s manager of finance.
Thetford is a leader in recreational products, including sanitation, refrigeration and other RV and marine products.
Moore Stephens Brokers Ltd., a source of general insurance products tailored for superyachts, named Kathy Kennedy its new U.S.-based executive vice president.
Kennedy most recently worked with the Ferretti Group on North American market development and with Derecktor Shipyards as director of marketing during the M/Y Cakewalk build.
Active Interest Media’s Marine Group Division announced that Sean O’Leary was named associate publisher of Soundings magazine and Jennifer Jones was named Marine Group marketing director.
O’Leary brings 12 years of publishing experience to Soundings, the sister publication to Soundings Trade Only. Using his talents as the former ad director of Saltwater Sportsman, Yachting and Motor Boating and his entrepreneurial skills from co-owning Boat Digest and Center Console Angler magazines, O’Leary, in the newly created position of associate publisher, is charged with growing ad revenue and developing profitable consumer-driven experiences. He also will work with the existing Soundings team to better position themselves in various marine marketplaces, including the development of the Pacific Northwest.
Jones joins AIM in a newly created position as the Marine Group marketing director. She will have full responsibility for the marketing efforts of Yachts International, Soundings, Soundings Trade Only, PassageMaker and Woodshop News. Jones, with an M.B.A. in marketing and more than 25 years of marketing expertise, said the position at AIM Media “taps perfectly into my passion and experience.”
In her new role, Jones will focus on a brand-centric model that serves boating enthusiasts “based on a seamless multiplatform experience with multiple revenue streams.” She’ll look to develop strategic partnerships with national and international companies, both endemic and non-endemic, as well as deepen relationships with advertisers of the various marine properties through integrated marine campaigns.
“Having Sean and Jennifer join our organization is part of a long-term plan,” Gary DeSanctis, vice president and group publisher of the Marine Group, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to gain the expertise of these two seasoned professionals. AIM Marine Group is an emerging powerhouse and we see no limit to what our team can accomplish in 2012.”
Seaton Yachts, of Newport, R.I., announced the recent hiring of Annie Lannigan as a sales representative of new builds and brokerage sales.
A longtime sailor, Lannigan began her sailing in a Dyer dinghy. Club racing through college later gave way to offshore sailing, delivery work and racing on superyachts.
After receiving an M.B.A., Lannigan worked with builders at Quickstep Sailboats, Dyer Boats and C. Raymond Hunt Associates as sales/marketing manager and as a consultant for numerous other designers and builders.
Stephen Jaekel, formerly with Switlik Parachute Co., joined AB Inflatables USA’s sales staff based in Suffern, N.Y.
Jaekel will be responsible for sales and establishing new dealerships throughout the company’s network. He has been in the marine industry for 23 years, and for the last 13 years he has worked on the wholesale side.
British luxury motoryacht builder Fairline Boats announced a management team reorganization that will take place March 1 when Oliver Winbolt takes on the role of head of marketing after the departure of Miles Moorhouse.
Winbolt joined Fairline in 2005 as chief engineer, and during the last six years he has gained extensive knowledge of the product range, Fairline dealerships and the company’s global show and media activities.
Vicem Yachts, the Turkish builder of luxury classic motoryachts and megayachts, is bolstering its executive U.S. team by naming Dave Mallach its Vicem Yachts USA director of sales, replacing Dirk Boehmer.
Mallach has worked in the marine industry since 1999 and has sold more than $30 million in Vicems during the last eight years.
MarineMax announced that Lex Raas joined the company as president of MarineMax Vacations, among other responsibilities.
Raas started his career in the marine industry in South Africa, where he built performance sailboats and powerboats. He became the Beneteau sailboat importer into South Africa in 1980 and subsequently joined Beneteau in France and the United States. His last position at Beneteau France was director of development in 1994.
Joining The Moorings in 1994 as logistics director, Raas was promoted to vice president of operations, and then CEO in 2001. He oversaw the merger of The Moorings and Sunsail as CEO of First Choice Marine.
In 2007, he was appointed CEO of TUI Marine, overseeing The Moorings, Sunsail and Le Boat, which operated 2,400 boats globally.
MarineFuel.com, a concierge marine fuel broker and real-time marina information company, announced that Bob Burke joined the company.
Though new to yacht fuel brokerage, Burke has extensive experience in the marine industry. Prior to joining MarineFuel.com, he worked for two years at OceanLED in marina product development, promotion and sales. Prior to that, he spent 12 years with Viking Sport Cruisers in a number of roles.
