This month’s Pulse Report survey asks retailers what they see as the biggest challenges for boat sales this year.
In light of the contentions election cycle, the coronavirus, tariffs, the economy and waterways legislation — for example, actions to thwart red tide and toxic algae blooms — the headwinds could prove more complex.
The Marine Retailers Association of the Americas and Baird Research launched the Pulse Report to gauge retail conditions. Soundings Trade Only later partnered with Baird to help distribute the survey and report its results.
The surveys analyze such industry data points as new-boat demand, inventory levels and access to credit. They also include the Marine Retail Sentiment Index, a confidence index for retailers.
