Marinas are being encouraged to apply for the 2009 National Marina Day Marina of the Year Award.

This year's celebration is set for Aug. 8. The award is given to the marina that best promotes marinas as gateways to the boating experience and exemplifies stewardship of the environment in their local community.

Award winners receive a plaque during the International Marina & Boatyard Conference held annually in January. Plus, the Marina of the Year hosts the National Marina Day opening event for the following year, and receives all the publicity and promotion that goes along with that designation.

Applications are available here with a link at the top of the home page, or send an e-mail to wlarimer@marinaassociation.org for an application. The deadline to apply is Oct. 15.
