Renovation work at Westport's Fort Lauderdale sales and service center is nearing completion.

The project involved reconfiguring the marina to provide berths for the line of Westport yachts up to 164 feet, dredging the basin to an operating depth of 13 feet and installation of a new seawall system. Bellingham Marine completed replacement of the facility's marina in June and the finishing touches are under way on the landside.

The renovated marina includes seven berths and enough side-tie for a total capacity of about 20 boats, 100 feet in length, complemented by robust electrical services. A 15-by-315-foot megayacht Unifloat dock with 30 feet of freeboard provides moorage for new vessels being commissioned and delivered to Westport customers as well as transient slips for customers having minor services performed on their yachts.

"Bellingham Marine has more experience with superyacht docks than anyone," said Phil Purcell, vice president of Westport, in a statement. "And we noticed with their Unifloat system that they develop their products with the same philosophy and attention to detail we use to develop ours."
