Cabela’s plans three store openings

Fishing and outdoor gear chain Cabela's announced plans to open new stores in Berlin, Mass., Lubbock, Texas, and Cheektowaga, N.Y.

The company is planning to build an 88,000-square-foot store to serve the Boston area. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2014, with an opening slated for spring 2015. The store will employ about 200 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees.

Serving the Buffalo area will be Cabela’s first upstate New York store. Construction on the 88,000-square-foot location is scheduled to begin this fall and it also will employ about 200 workers. Cabela's expects to open the store in the fall of 2014.

In Texas, construction on a 42,000-square-foot Cabela's Outpost store is scheduled to begin this fall. Cabela's anticipates a summer 2014 opening. The store is expected to employ about 90 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees.

Cabela’s now operates 44 stores across North America and has plans to open an additional 16 during the next two years.
