The Connecticut Marine Trades Association said Don MacKenzie of Boats Inc. was named the 2015 Jeanne Czel Person of the Year at the trade group’s annual Jingle & Mingle celebration on Dec. 17.

The award celebrates the life of Czel, formerly of Ritts Marine Center, whose life and spirit touched all she came in contact with, and it is the CMTA's highest honor.

The CMTA said Czel fought a courageous battle against cancer, never losing site of the needs of others and with a sense of humor that was contagious. The Jingle & Mingle event was her favorite, as marine industry colleagues come together for a night of fun and fellowship — no business, just camaraderie.

MacKenzie has served on the CMTA's board, as chairman and chairman emeritus and chairman of the boat show committee. He is co-owner of Boats Inc. a Grady-White and Parker Dealership and marina in Niantic, Conn. Boats Inc. has won several industry Top 100 Dealerships awards.

Amy Lynn Clark was the first recipient in 2014 and she received a proclamation from Gov. Dannel Malloy at the event.
