Our weekly roundup of dealers and distributors includes news from Beneteau, Mist-er-Comfort, Scout Boats, Laborde Products, Delta “T’ Systems, Tigé Boats, Naples Boat Mart, Freedom Electric Marine and Garmin.

The Beneteau powerboats division welcomed Denison Yacht Sales, based in Fort Lauderdale and Marina del Ray, Calif., along with The Yachting Group, based in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and the Virgin Islands, to its dealer network.

“The dealers in our network are of utmost importance to us at Beneteau. They are an extension of the Beneteau brand, responsible for establishing and nurturing the relationship between us and our owners,” Laurent Fabre, vice president of sales and marketing for Beneteau’s North American powerboats division, said in a statement.

“We pride ourselves not in the quantity of dealers in our network, but in the quality of dealers representing Beneteau, which is why we are proud to announce Denison Yacht Sales and The Yachting Group have joined this most elite team on behalf of the powerboats division,” he added.

Mist-er-Comfort Inc. appointed five new dealer-installers in Florida and the Caribbean for the company’s marine misting systems.

The new dealers are:

• Lighthouse Yacht Service, Delray Beach, Fla.

• South Florida Marine, Lantana, Fla.

• Environmental Misting, Cape Canaveral, Fla.

Scout Boats Inc. recently honored its top dealers during its 2012 dealer meeting, held Sept. 11-12, in Charleston, S.C. During the meeting, the company awarded its top dealers from around the world based on sales figures from the previous year.

The top 10 dealer sales award winners are:

American Rental Equipment was named a Laborde Products certified dealer.

“We did research and found that Laborde has a great reputation and wasn't yet represented in this immediate area,” American Rental Equipment general manager Jonah LaLonde said in a statement. “In anticipation of increased business, we're moving into a much larger facility that will provide both of us with great exposure.”

Laborde distributes Yanmar, Mitsubishi, FPT and Hatz Diesel engines and packages its own diesel-powered equipment under Diesel America.

Cranston Eagle signed an exclusive deal for Delta “T” Systems to become the authorized U.S. agent for its Eagle Products line of offload marine hooks.

Delta “T” Systems is responsible for new product sales, replacement parts and upgrades, as well as testing and recertification of all Eagle Products offload marine hooks.

Tigé Boats announced that Heinen’s Motorsports joined the worldwide network of authorized Tigé dealerships.

Located in Osseo, Minn., Heinen’s Motorsports is northwest of the Twin Cities/St. Paul metro area and serves southeast Minnesota. It will offer the full range of Tigé models, as well as provide full servicing facilities to local Tigé owners.

“We look forward to welcoming new and existing Tigé customers,” Heinen’s Motorsports owner Paul Heinen said in a statement. “We are dedicated to provide the very highest level of care and service to keep you on the water enjoying your Tigé.”

Naples Boat Mart, of Naples, Fla., was awarded membership in the Grady-White Boats Admiral’s Circle for model-year 2011 in recognition of high achievement in sales and customer service.

“As a new sales year begins we want to recognize the very best-performing Grady-White dealerships during the past 2011 model year,” Grady-White vice president of sales and marketing Joey Weller said in a statement. “The outstanding sales efforts of Naples Boat Mart and their exemplary level of customer satisfaction helped achieve success for all of us.”

Admiral’s Circle membership is reserved for Grady-White dealerships that have achieved more than $1 million in retail sales for the model year and have earned Grady-White’s Service Excellence award, with customer satisfaction index scores exceeding 9.25 on a 10-point scale as rated in actual customer surveys.

This is the 11th year that Naples Boat Mart has earned the honor.

Freedom Electric Marine, builder of eco-friendly watercraft, announced its new affiliation with Peters Marine Services of Allentown, Pa.

“We are very excited about our new partnership with Peters Marine,” Freedom Electric marketing manager Roscoe Worth-Jones said in a statement. “With the kind of history and track record they’ve built as eastern Pennsylvania’s largest dealer of both conventional and electric watercraft, we feel honored to have them adding the Twin Troller x10 to their lineup of product offerings.”

Garmin Ltd. announced it acquired Garmin Distribution Africa (Pty) Ltd., the distributor of Garmin's automotive, outdoor recreation, fitness and marine products in southern Africa, and Garmap (Pty) Ltd., a South African mapping and mobile applications provider.

Financial terms of the transaction were not released.

Garmin Distribution Africa will be renamed Garmin Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. and will continue operations at its current headquarters and warehouse facility near Johannesburg.

“We are pleased to complete this acquisition, and we welcome our South African team into the Garmin family,” Garmin chairman and CEO Min Kao said in a statement. “This transaction will strengthen Garmin's presence in this rapidly growing region and we look forward to closely supporting our retailers and customers in South Africa.”
