Dealers and Distributors

This week’s roundup of dealers and distributors includes news from Jet Tern Marine, Baja Marine and Scout Boats.

Jet Tern Marine, the builder of Selene Yachts, named Luke Brown Yachts as its exclusive Southeast dealer for Jet Tern’s line of trawlers from 33 to 66 feet, which are designed by Howard Chen, a naval architect and the chairman of Jet Tern.

Luke Brown also will be the exclusive agent for the new Selene Ocean Trawler Series from 78 to 128 feet, designed by Dutch designer Guido de Groot.

Jet Tern is one of the largest exporters of yachts in China.

“Yachtsmen today are demanding more comfort and safety offshore, economical cruising and timeless styling,” Luke Brown president Andrew Cilla said in a statement.

Kiki Bosch will serve as Luke Brown’s Selene sales manager, working from its headquarters in Fort Lauderdale.

Baja Marine, parent company of the Baja, Donzi, Fountain and Pro-Line boat brands, named Hong Kong Marine as the new boat distributor for Fountain Powerboats in China and other select Asian boating regions.

The Hong Kong, China, dealership will offer the entire Fountain line of high-performance sportboats and fishing boats from 35 to 48 feet.

“China is opening up as an important boating market, and the Fountain brand is well known and popular there,” Baja Marine CEO Johnny Walker said in a statement. “Who better for us to partner with in China than a trusted boat dealer that already represents another of our brands, Pro-Line Boats, and is familiar with us and our products?”

Founded in 1991, Hong Kong Marine operates several retail locations in China, where it offers a wide selection of prestige fishing boat, sportboat and cruiser brands. In addition to new-boat sales, the dealership has a brokerage division and a thriving marine service.

“I am very pleased to work with Baja Marine to promote its boat lines in Hong Kong and mainland China,” Hong Kong Marine Principal Peter Lau said in a statement. “I have gotten to know more about the mainland China market over the past six years and understand the situation there. Although they are different than U.S. boat buyers, many Chinese customers are interested in fishing boats and high-performance boats. I can say that Pro-Line is the No.1 quantity in mainland China now.”
