Clarks Landing Pleasure Boat & Yacht Sales will host a Sea Ray Showcase June 20-21 at its Chester Marine Center on Kent Island, Md.

The MerCruiser Axius/Zeus Joystick Control Truck will be on-site with MerCruiser representatives on hand to demonstrate this new technology. Customers will have the chance to learn about the product prior to sea trialing the boat.

"What a great way to get out on the water and experience the pleasures of boating first-hand," managing partner Jeff Truesdale said in a statement. "Take the fear out of docking with Axius and Zeus propulsion systems. This revolutionary technology is something that you really need to experience to appreciate."

Clarks Landing also will host the third annual Aquapalooza July 18 at Conquest Beach on the Chester River in Maryland.

Last year more than 200 boats and about 500 boaters joined Clarks Landing to share in the fun and exciting boating lifestyle. Participants will enjoy live musical entertainment, a DJ, free food, giveaways, games, dinghy rides compliments of Jimmy Dean's Yacht Tenders, a 15 foot water slide and more.

Veethree recently appointed Global Marine Associates Ltd as its European representatives

"Global Marine were a natural first choice for us, they have a wealth of past experience with our products gained when they were produced under the Teleflex brand so we are very happy to have been able to partner with them to develop our future business," said Phil Rothe, marine sales manager, in a statement.

Renaissance Marine Group, manufacturer of Duckworth Boats, Weldcraft Boats and Columbia Boats, appointed independent dealer representative Jerry Spiess of Spiess Marketing Inc. to provide dealer support for its brands.

Spiess has been involved in the marine marketplace since 1993, beginning his career as the Western U.S. representative for Lund Boat Co.

Spiess will manage all three brands sold by more than 40 dealers throughout the western United States. In addition, he will be instrumental in expanding the dealer channels into new markets, executing sales promotions and continuing to push product development in positive directions.

"The addition of Jerry Spiess reflects a widespread company commitment to providing our customers with best in class service and sales support to complement the world's finest aluminum boats," said Jerry Wooley, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Renaissance Marine Group, in a statement.

Marine University is offering training for dealers through its Boater101 Hands-On Course.

The development of the course and dealer training is funded through a U.S. Coast Guard grant. The program is now being rolled out at boat dealerships nationwide.

Dealers participating in the training sessions this week during National Safe Boating Week include MarineMax in Pompano Beach, Fla.; Intermarine in Dania Beach, Fla.; and Mount Dora Boating Center in Mount Dora, Fla. Four additional dealers have signed up for training in June including Duchow's Boat Center in Pewaukee, Wis.; Gordy's Lakefront Marina in Fox Lake, Ill.; Hoffmaster's Marina in Woodbridge, Va.; and Trenton Marine Center in Trenton, N.J.

"National Safe Boating Week is an ideal time to start rolling out Marine University's hands-on program," said Susan Engle, president of Marine University, in a statement. "The U.S. Coast Guard has offered dealers an ideal opportunity to expand their suite of services to include standardized hands-on education at minimal cost to the dealership. This opportunity is a win-win for all involved."

Following the session, dealers will be trained to offer both the Boater101 classroom and hands-on courses. Interested dealers should e-mail Christa Jewett.

Marine University is funded by CEERI, Inc. a non-profit organization developed to implement boating safety education at the point of sale in boat dealerships.

Tiara Yachts recently hosted Tiara University for its three newest dealers.

HMY Yacht Sales represents the line on the east coast of Florida; S1 Yacht Sales represents Tiara in Maryland; and B&E Marine represents the line in western Michigan and greater Chicago.

In all, 24 sales people attended the two-day training session at Tiara's 800,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Holland, Mich.

Tiara Yachts is a division of S2 Yachts, which also makes Pursuit Boats.
