Our weekly roundup of dealers and distributors includes news from Sun Country Marine, Chesapeake Ranger Tugs, the Annapolis Spring Sails Event, Cobra Marine, Clarks Landing, Mercury Marine, Walstrom Marine, National Innovative Visions, Nauticomp and Oceanstyle Yachting.

Sun Country Marine is now Southern California's exclusive Sea Ray dealer.

In 16 of the last 20 years, Sun Country Marine says it has been the No. 1 dealer in the country for Chaparral Boats.

Ranger Tugs of Kent, Wash., appointed a new dealership for its trailerable boats for the Chesapeake Bay region.

Chesapeake Ranger Tugs, located in Annapolis, Md., will be responsible for promoting, selling and managing the commissioning and service of the Ranger Tugs line of boats for small trawler aficionados throughout the area.

Chesapeake Ranger Tugs will feature one of each model at the upcoming Baltimore Boat Show, which runs Jan. 21-24 at the Baltimore Convention Center, and will offer special 2010 promotional packages. An owners' rendezvous is being planned for May.

The sailboat dealers of Annapolis, Md., finalized plans for the seventh annual Annapolis Spring Sails Event on May 8-9.

This year's plans include an expanded format of new sailboat dealer open houses, brokerage boats and exhibitor space available at four different sites. Transportation between sites will allow attendees to move easily through the locations, with progressive door prizes and signups at each location.

Admission is free.

Preliminary participants include Annapolis Sailyard, Inc. (Hanse), Annapolis Yacht Sales (Benneteau, Sabre), Bay Yacht Agency (Fountaine Pajot, Jeanneau), Crusader Yachts (Pacific Seacraft), North Point Yachts (J-Boats), Performance Cruising (Gemini), Sail Annapolis (Catalina), Tartan C&C Yacht Sales (Tartan, C&C), and Tidewater Marina (Hunter).

United States Yacht Shows Inc. is managing the event.

Cobra Marine announced a long-term agreement to distribute the European C-Pod Security System, provided by Seakey AB of Sweden.

Cobra will serve as the exclusive U.S. distributor and provide support to C-Pod.

"Already well-established in Europe, C-Pod enables owners to effectively communicate with their boat," said Tony Mirabelli, senior vice-president of marketing and sales for Cobra Electronics, in a statement. "We're proud to distribute and service C-Pod in the U.S. along with our line of VHF radios that also help boaters communicate while on the water."

Cobra Electronics is a leading global designer and marketer of communication and navigation products.

Clarks Landing recently sold its showroom facility on Kent Island, Md., and moved that sales operation to its waterfront marina three miles south in Chester, Md.

"At this time it just made practical sense to relocate," managing partner Jeff Truesdale said in a statement. "This will give us an opportunity to cut overhead and at the same time combine our sales, service, parts and marina operations together, which will, in effect, help us manage better and offer our customers the best possible buying experience.

"We will also be in a better position to pass on savings to our customers due to lower expenses," he added.

Clarks Landing now operates out of two waterfront locations, one in Chester and the other in Shady Side, Md.

Mercury Marine will present Service Customer Satisfaction Index Awards to 91 dealerships in the first quarter of 2010.

Recipients of the customer-satisfaction award displayed ongoing commitment to provide exemplary customer service. Award presentation was based on the responses of customers who had work performed at an authorized Mercury dealership during the past year for products under warranty.

"With market conditions being what they are, today's marine dealers need to do everything possible to keep their current customer base satisfied," said Scott Breshears, director of field service development and operations for Mercury Marine, in a statement. "The Service CSI Award is a testament that these dealers are doing just that. We look forward to their continued success in 2010."

Grand Banks Yachts added Walstrom Marine as its new authorized dealer for the Great Lakes region of the United States.

"Walstrom Marine brings an outstanding combination of experience, knowledge, passion and professionalism to their operation," said Neil McCurdy, vice president of sales and service for Grand Banks Yachts, in a statement. "Grand Banks customers will be well-served by their sales and service teams. We're very proud to have Walstrom join our growing worldwide network of Authorized Dealers."

Walstrom Marine will manage sales of Grand Banks Yachts through its three offices in Northern Michigan, in Cheboygan, Harbor Springs and Bay Harbor. They also offer a full menu of service support, dockage and winter storage, with large-capacity marine Travelifts in both Harbor Springs and Cheboygan.

National Innovative Visions Inc., makers of Elete pontoons and houseboats, added three new dealers to its network.

These are: Lake Sutton Marina in Sutton, W.Va., Harrisons Sport Shop in Desoto, Ill., and J&J Marine in Quincy, Ill.

"We at Elete continue to offer the best value and affordable pontoon in today's market. This is one of many reasons why our dealer network is growing," national sales manager Denny Backis said in a statement. "Not every customer can afford a $20,000 to $30,000 pontoon with today's economy. Elete's average retail pontoon price is in the $10,000 to $20,000 area rigged with an outboard."

Elete offers pontoon boat from 11 feet to houseboat up to 50 feet.

Trionic Corp. a manufacturer of rotationally molded water and holding tanks, shower sump tanks, dock boxes and other marine products is now represented by A.J. Kreuzkamp Associates.

A.J. Kreuzkamp is representing Trionic in the Northeast, including Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Marine displays manufacturer Nauticomp announced the appointment of CA Clase to exclusively distribute, support and service Nauticomp products in the United Kingdom and Europe.

CA Clase is a leading distributor of recreational and commercial marine electronics.

Dania Cut Super Yacht Repair Facility and Bradford Marine joined forces to offer repair and refit services to 200-plus foot yachts at Dania Cut's deepwater megayacht service facility in Dania, Fla.

This arrangement enables Bradford Marine to make its yacht repair and refit trades available to larger megayachts at an additional location, and Dania Cut's capabilities are enhanced by the full services that Bradford Marine provides.

"We're very pleased to combine resources with Dania Cut to enable Bradford Marine to provide their highly-regarded services at an additional location," Bradford Marine president Paul Engle said in a statement. "We look forward to working jointly with Chip Macpherson and Kevin Klar to provide those services demanded by today's larger yachts."

Outer Reef Yachts' European division announced a partnership with Oceanstyle Yachting.

"We are honored that Oceanstyle Yachting has agreed to operate alongside our own sales team promoting our vessels," Outer Reef Yachts said in a statement. "This, we believe, is a formidable partnership, being made up of skilled designers, professional sales personnel, technical staff and yacht management administration."

Oceanstyle Yachting has offices in London, Monaco and Palma, Spain.
