Tom Nichols, a longtime member of the Southwest Florida Marine Industries Association, was honored as "Member of the Year" at the association's recent annual meeting.

Nichols, along with partner Frank Porter, owns Bonita Boat Center in Bonita Springs, Fla.

"It is hard to put a value on Tom's contribution to our association and to the marine industry," association president Tom Hansen said in a statement. "Our association has undergone a major reorganization and restructuring over the past 18 months. We had to make some tough decisions, and Tom Nichols was a big part of putting us in a very healthy position."

Nichols, a second-generation boat dealer, served two terms as president of the association, was boat show chairman for more than five years and has been on the group's board for much of the last 20 years.
