Marine paint company Interlux received the Sponsor of the Year Award from the Marine Trades Association of New Jersey.

MTA/NJ established the award nine years ago to recognize leading sponsors and supporters of the association.

Interlux regional representative Jay Smida accepted the award on behalf of the company at a recent dinner.

"It is important for Interlux to support and be involved in the activities of our industry associations, and we are honored to be recognized by MTA/NJ," Smida said in a statement.

"Having manufactured our paints in Union, N.J., for more than 100 years, the people of Interlux are extremely proud to be named as sponsor of the year by the Marine Trades Association of New Jersey," Interlux North America marketing manager Jim Seidel said in a statement. "The people involved in the marine trades will also be an integral part of rebuilding after Superstorm Sandy, helping to keep the Jersey Shore not only a great place to go boating, but also a great place to live."
