Orange Beach (Ala.) Marina was voted 2016’s Best Large Marina and Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Md., was voted Best Small Marina in Marinalife’s seventh annual Best Marina Contest.

Marinalife said Orange Beach Marina offers a safe, fully protected harbor and family-friendly environment for all types of boaters. It has 161 in water slips and is conveniently accessible from the Gulf of Mexico, Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, Intracoastal Waterway, and Mobile or Pensacola Bay.

The marina’s state-of-the-art docks, facilities and friendly staff enable it to stand out as one of the premier marinas on the Gulf Coast, Marinalife said.

“As a family-owned and operated business, our staff takes pride in working every day to exceed our customers’ expectations and provide them with a second-to-none, world-class marina experience,” Orange Beach Marina president C. Bennett Long said in a statement. “Our award-winning staff treats our customers like they are members of our family because quite simply, they are. This award honors the entire team at Orange Beach Marina, our staff, customers and boat owners.”

Marinalife said the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is a world-class museum dedicated to preserving and exploring the history, environment and people of Chesapeake Bay. Boasting 40 in-water slips, the museum offers electric, pump-out, climate-controlled showers and other amenities to members.

"We fully appreciate the recognition from our marina guests, in recognition of the service we offer, and the numerous upgrades we've recently made,” museum guest services manager Ed Rowe said in a statement. “It’s a great honor to receive this award, and we look forward to welcoming our guests whenever they visit."

Marinalife recognized second- and third-place winners in each category because of an overwhelming number of votes.

Green Turtle Bay Marina & Resort in Grand Rivers, Ky., won second place in the Best Large Marina category and Wentworth by the Sea Marina in New Castle, N.H., was a close third.

Harbour Town Yacht Basin in Hilton Head, S.C., was voted second place in the Best Small Marina category. Third place went to South Jersey Marina in Cape May, N.J.
