Marinalife names winners of Best Marina Contest

Marinalife, a membership service for recreational boaters, has named the winners of its 8th Annual Best Marina Contest.

Orange Beach Marina in Orange Beach, Ala., won for Best Large Marina and Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina in Fort Myers Beach, Fla., took the honors as Best Small Marina.

“For the second year in a row, Orange Beach Marina is honored to be recognized as Marinalife’s 2017 Best Large Marina,” C. Bennett Long, president of the marina, said in a statement. “This award demonstrates that hard work and attention to detail pays dividends. We also couldn’t be more thankful to our dedicated staff, who routinely put our customers’ needs at the forefront of our family-owned-and-operated business.”

Orange Beach Marina offers a fully protected harbor with 161 slips, two on-site restaurants and laundry and shower facilities. It’s accessible from the Gulf of Mexico, the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, the Intracoastal Waterway and Mobile or Pensacola Bay.

Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina has 41 slips for boats as large as 100 feet. The marina is 6 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and has swimming pools, a restaurant and a quarter-mile beach.

Second place in the large marina category went to Kingman Yacht Center in Cataumet, Mass. River Dunes Marina in Oriental, N.C., came in third.

Plantation Yacht Harbor Marina in Islamorada, Fla., took second in the small marina category, followed by Homeport Marina in Gulf Shores, Ala.
