Skipper Bud's opened a Midwest Marine Repo Center at its Oshkosh, Wis., location to sell boats it purchased from a bankruptcy proceeding, as well as a selection of consignment boats from area banks.

"We are experiencing tremendous sales in Oshkosh in comparison to a year ago," says Mike Pretasky Jr., Skipper Bud's president, in a statement.

The repo center concept evolved because this inventory is more marketable and accessible if it is all located in one central site. The center is now in position to offer boats on consignment for local lenders and for marine floorplanners, according to Skipper Bud's.

Despite the market conditions, products offered at the Midwest Marine Repo Center can save consumers thousands of dollars on a boat. Pretasky says that because consumers are shopping for deals on boats, they are finding that the Midwest Marine Repo Center has products that are priced to sell quickly and some are even less than market value.
