MarineMax announces fishing tournament series

MarineMax created a new family-friendly, outboard-only fishing tournament series that will be held this summer along the Emerald Coast of Florida and Alabama.

The dates are:

• July 2: Destin, Fla.

• July 30: Panama City, Fla.

• Aug.13: Gulf Shores, Ala.

• Aug. 27: Pensacola, Fla.

The tournaments will focus on different species in different locations and will offer prizes and awards in inshore, offshore, lady anglers and kids divisions. All entry fees will be donated to the Fisher House, a private-public partnership that supports U.S. military personnel.

“At MarineMax, we share the same passion for family boating and fishing as our customers because we’re boaters and fishermen, too,” president and CEO William McGill said in a statement. “The idea for our MarineMax Outboard Invitational Series grew from that passion, and the decision to donate the entry fees to Fisher House came from our desire to recognize our military men and women for the sacrifices they continue to make on our behalf.”

Sponsors of the tournament series include MarineMax, Boston Whaler, Mako, The Fishin’ Chix organization, Simrad and Salt Water Sportsman magazine.
