MarineMax gala set for Dallas

MarineMax will hold its annual Dallas Yacht Gala at 7 p.m. on Sept. 6 at the Pier 121 Marina.

The red-carpet affair invites guests to tour, enjoy and purchase yachts. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience Sea Ray and Meridian cruisers and yachts, as well as brokerage vessels, in an exclusive VIP environment.

Featured boats will include Sea Ray’s 580 Sundancer, 540 Sundancer, 510 Sundancer, 2012 Boat of the Year 370 Venture, 370 Sundancer, 310 Sundancer, 260 Sundeck and 250 SLX, as well as the 391 Meridian.

MarineMax is also holding its first annual “Taste of the Gala,” during which guests can sample foods from surrounding area restaurants. Featured restaurants include Tierney’s Café & Tavern, Zoe’s Kitchen, Hat Tricks and Irene’s Bakery. Also participating is Chef Blythe Beck, star of the Oxygen reality show “The Naughty Kitchen,” who will be demonstrating how to grill on a yacht. Chef Cassy Jones will give a sneak preview into one of the fried culinary creations that will be introduced at this year’s State Fair of Texas.

The evening will end with the regional unveiling of a 2014 yacht.

The event will be followed by a free public boat show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 7-8 at Pier 121 Marina on Lake Lewisville.

New boat sales relatively flat in June

New boat sales in June grew marginally, with a 1.1 percent rise in the main powerboat categories and just 0.2 percent growth overall, according to preliminary data from Statistical Surveys Inc., a Michigan firm that tracks registrations.
