MarineMax Pensacola at Bahia Mar is seeking volunteers to join the MarineMax team at Bahia Mar Marina on June 25, where they will lead a Bayou Chico Trash Round-up in conjunction with the Bayou Chico Association.

“We are all excited to have this opportunity to help restore Bayou Chico to a more natural state,” Mark Breton, general manager of MarineMax Pensacola at Bahia Mar, said. “It’s a chance to give back to the community we serve and the beautiful environment we all share.”

The event will kick off at 9 a.m., and boats will leave the marina at 9:30 a.m. Trash bags and dip nets will be provided for each boat. At 11 a.m. MarineMax will host a cookout for all of the participants as they return.

The Bayou Chico Association is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of Bayou Chico. A community-based nonprofit organization, the association is made up of area residences, businesses and boat owners working together to effectively identify and solve environmental problems threatening Bayou Chico. They strive to accomplish these goals through public education, action and advocacy.

“Cleanup supplies will be provided. If you do not have a boat, please call to reserve a spot to participate in the cleanup. Lunch will be provided at the docks following the cleanup,” Breton said.
