The new Marshes Light Marina is open in Manteo, N.C., giving boaters access to Manteo’s historic waterfront from nearby Shallowbag Bay, Roanoke Sound and beyond.

The marina — part of Marshes Light, a new waterfront community of townhouse flats, villas and single-family home sites — has 45 full-service slips completed, with another 113 approved by the town. Marshes Light and developer Kitty Hawk Land Co. are making plans for the construction of the additional dockage, including a design to minimize wave action in the marina.

The marina provides transient slips as well as a limited number of slips for purchase. The slips can accommodate boats to 70 feet. A dockmaster’s office is being completed this month and will provide ice, soft drinks, snacks and marine products.
