The Seattle Yacht Club was honored Wednesday night as one of only 49 state corporations filed in 1909 that is still in existence.

The club's commodore Larry McCarthy was presented with the Century Corporation Certificate by Washington secretary of state Sam Reed, and a slide presentation about the organization's first 30 years followed.

McCarthy presides over about 2,500 members at the club. It is well known for its opening-day celebration, always held on the first Saturday in May, when hundreds of boats parade through Montlake Cut into Lake Washington.
