South Florida dealer acquires Fort Lauderdale yacht management and services firm

FB Marine Group has acquired Fort Lauderdale-based Shield Marine for undisclosed terms. The company will be known as FB Shield Marine.

FB Marine Group has dealerships in Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach, Florida, as well as Cleveland. Shield Marine provides a yacht management service that oversees the operational aspects of vessels in South Florida and other locations. It also provides dealer support for European brands, including Princess, Azimut and Sunseeker.

Jeff West, co-founder of Shield Marine, will oversee day-to-day operations of the new division.

A statement said the combined businesses would allow the company to enter new markets and expand its workforce. FB Marine Group has 40 employees. It sells and services Mercury, Yamaha and Volvo Penta engines and is a factory-authorized service center for Formula Boats.

It also has brokerage, charter and repair divisions.

"Shield Marine offers superior services that have enabled them to build strong, long-term relationships with their clients," said Randy Sweers, founder of FB Marine Group, in the statement. "We look forward to continuing to build upon the stellar reputation they have developed."
