Virginia marina gains Clean Marina status

Virginia’s Windmill Point Marina recently received a Clean Marina designation.

The marina, which has 96 slips, is in White Stone, Va., on the western side of Chesapeake Bay.

Harbormaster David Dudley said staying committed to the Clean Marina program was an easy decision.

“We want to stay competitive, and maintaining Clean Marina status is one way to do that,” Dudley said in a statement. “It’s a great trademark to have.”

The Virginia Institute of Marina Science and Virginia Sea Grant are partners in the Virginia Clean Marina Program, which recognizes marinas that voluntarily take measures to prevent or reduce pollution at their facility.

There are 70 Clean Marinas in Virginia.
