West Marine debuts new service for yachts

West Marine, the Watsonville, Calif.,-based retailer of boating supplies and accessories, launched a Professional Captain's Services Division, dedicated to supplying yachts and megayachts throughout the world.

The division will be managed by Thomas "Charlie" Petosa, a former West Marine regional vice president, who spent the last two years as a special consultant in the megayacht industry.

The Professional Captain's Services team will be based in West Marine's Fort Lauderdale superstore. The tri-county waters in Broward, Dade and Palm Beach are home to roughly 1,500 of the world's growing fleet of more than 3,800 megayachts greater than 24 meters.
