West Marine will host the grand opening celebration in March of its newly expanded store in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.

The store is at the Eastern Shopping Plaza at 4186 Carretera. Festivities are planned to begin at 8 a.m. each day from March 20-23, with special in-store events, tips from experts, electronics demos, door-buster deals, giveaways and raffles.

At 16,000 square feet, the store is now the largest West Marine in Puerto Rico and will serve an active coastal region. The Fajardo store also will include an increased area for fishing supplies and a newly created engine parts section.

The store will have a sailing hardware department and a large softgoods. The 19-person West Marine crew has several hundred combined years of boating, fishing and sailing experience and collectively has cruised thousands of nautical miles.

“Puerto Ricans and visitors of the region appreciate the outdoors and enjoying life as much as possible,” general manager Pedro Monge — a Puerto Rico native and longtime marina enthusiast who has been with West Marine for more than 13 years — said in a statement. “The Fajardo location, in particular, was designed to meet the needs of this community, and we are excited to have the opportunity to serve them year-round.”
