West Marine holding grand opening in R.I.

West Marine will host a grand opening celebration Thursday through Sunday for its new flagship store in Middletown, R.I.

At 23,000 square feet, it is the largest West Marine store in New England. Customers can test more than 150 marine network displays, fishfinders and VHF radios from all the major brands.

A media luncheon will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. with Kenny Read, Puma Ocean Racing skipper, followed by a Cruising for a Cause party to benefit Rhode Island non-profit boating organizations.
