West Marine plans grand-opening event in Massachusetts

West Marine's newest location in Fairhaven, Mass., will hold its grand opening celebration this weekend.

The festivities are at 8 a.m. Friday and last through Sunday.

Responding to the needs of South Coast-area boaters, the new store is 15,000 square feet and features a large selection of fishing gear and engine parts, plus an extensive selection of marine electronics, sailing gear and boating supplies, as well as casual and technical apparel, the company said in a statement.

West Marine is the largest specialty retailer of boating supplies and accessories, with more than 310 company-owned stores in 38 states, Puerto Rico and Canada and three franchised stores in Turkey.
