West Marine schedules grand opening in California

West Marine announced the grand opening Oct. 3-6 of its California flagship store in Newport Beach.

The celebration begins daily at 8 a.m. with in-store events, tips from experts, a fashion show, stand-up paddleboard demos and raffles.

On the evening of Oct. 3 a “Cruising for Charity” night will support local marine-based non-profits.

The new store will be West Marine’s largest on the West Coast at 27,500 square feet and will carry more than 18,000 products.

“We’re designing the Newport Beach store to better serve boaters, anglers, paddlers and sailors, as well as people who simply enjoy life on the water,” general manager Chris Beckwith said in a statement.
