West Marine is encouraging customers to participate in International Coastal Cleanup Day, which takes place this Saturday, September 21.

People interested in participating can pick up a complimentary beach cleanup kit at their local West Marine facility starting Wednesday, September 18. The kits are available while supplies last and include a guide on how to hold a cleanup in a local community. Each kit comes with a biodegradable trash bag and gloves, sunscreen solution, a reusable tote bag, a hat and a West Marine thank-you coupon.

Thirty West Marine locations are hosting cleanups with partners in their communities.

“This initiative not only helps take care of our beaches and oceans, but it also supports our mission to outfit, educate and inspire boaters,” Aaron Carpenter, chief marketing officer for West Marine, said in a statement. “By hosting these cleanups and providing tools that make it easier to get involved, we hope to inspire participants through education about the importance of a clean coast.”
