West Marine will name green-product winner in Miami

West Marine will announce the winner of its fourth annual Green Product of the Year Award at 10 a.m. Feb. 14 at the company's booth at the Miami International Boat Show.

An important component of West Marine’s BlueFuture initiative to help create a sustainable future, the award hopes to encourage green product development throughout the marine industry.

In addition to the Green Product of the Year, West Marine will feature its top picks for the most innovative new products for 2013. Show attendees also can enter to win a $1,000 gift card at the West Marine booth, the company announced.

“We’re very excited about West Marine’s Hot Picks for 2013,” product information vice president Chuck Hawley said in a statement. “The goal, as always, is to find products that make boating safer, more enjoyable or more economical, combined with that ‘got to have it’ factor. Our suppliers have done a superb job of identifying boater needs and responding to them with innovative, exciting products.”

West Marine’s Top Picks for 2013 include Columbia Omni-Freeze ZERO, West Marine CFA Bottom Paint, Caframo Taku Fan, Lenco Autoglide Trim Tabs, Isotherm Smart Energy Control and DeLorme inReach.
