Wisconsin adds Clean Marina

Southport Marina in Kenosha is Wisconsin's newest Clean Marina.

Southport Marina, which opened in 2008, is newly renovated. The full-service marina is Wisconsin's 19th Clean Marina in less than two years and the only marina certified in Kenosha.

“We're lucky to live in Wisconsin, with more than 15,000 inland lakes, 40,000 miles of rivers and streams and lakes Michigan and Superior. There are over 220 marinas in Wisconsin — 120 are on our two Great Lakes. Clean Marinas implement practices that help cut costs through reducing waste disposal, conserving water and attracting new customers who appreciate an environmentally friendly operation,” Jon Kukuk, owner of Nestegg Marine and chairman of the Wisconsin Marina Association, said in a statement.

All Wisconsin certified marinas have voluntarily adopted as many as 100 best management practices to become certified.
