Veterans Memorial Lake in Arkansas City, Kan., was closed yesterday to boating and fishing activities until further notice.

According to ksn.com, the state’s department of health and environment is testing for a possible algae bloom, but it has not been officially determined. The state calls the closure a precautionary measure.

In August 2017, the lake was temporarily placed under a Public Health Watch by KDHE for a possible blue-green algae development.
