ABBRA hands out its annual awards

The American Boat Builders & Repairers Association presented its annual awards at last week’s International Marina & Boatyard Conference.

The Dennis Snow President’s Award was presented to Carl Cramer, publisher of Professional Boatbuilder Wooden Boat magazine and co-show director of the International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition & Conference.

The Award of Excellence in Customer Care was presented to Haven Harbour Marina, in Rock Hall, Md.

ABBRA’s Award of Excellence, or “Boatyard of the Year,” was given to Saunders Yachtworks, a pleasure craft service division of the Saunders Engine Company in Orange Beach, Ala.

The Excellence in Safety and Environmental Practices award recognized Kelli Thornell-Crete, president and CEO of Ink Inc., which provides safety and health consultation services to general, marine and construction industry employers.

The Excellence in Technology award was presented to Lyman-Morse, a custom boatbuilding yard on the Coast of Maine.

The Commitment to Training award was given to Steve Kitchin, chairman of the Marine Industry Training & Education Council and vice president of corporate education and training at New England Institute of Technology.
