AIM Marine Group brings digital media VP aboard

Active Interest Media hired industry veteran Chris Kelly as vice president of digital media for its Marine Group.

In this new position Kelly will manage the sales and marketing of boat-buying website BoatQuest.com and lead the initiative to incorporate additional content to serve the active boat buyer.

“Chris’ previous experiences and expertise in packaging content solutions, while delivering ROI in the digital space, will be a key component to BoatQuest’s future growth,” said Gary DeSanctis, vice president and general manager of the AIM Marine Group.

Kelly also will work directly with the group’s other brand publishers on developing sales solutions for various clients, video production and sales generation.

“Because AIM has all of these leading boating titles we are in a great position to integrate strong and meaningful multimedia content into BoatQuest.com,” Kelly said. “We are building a one-stop shop for boat buyers — from the first search to the final sale — and taking online boat buying to a new level.”

The AIM Marine Group consists of BoatQuest.com, Soundings Trade Only, Soundings, Sail, Power & Motoryacht, PassageMaker and Yachts International.

Kelly is the creator and co-founder of BoatTEST.com and he served as executive editor and electronics columnist for Power & Motoryacht magazine for 12 years. For his work on BoatTEST.com, which launched in 2000, Kelly won the NMMA Web Award for an outstanding contribution to the marine industry.

A five-time winner of Boating Writers International awards, Kelly also produced the long-running boating TV series “Sea Trial” for Speedvision/Outdoor Life.

Active Interest Media also owns Show Management, which produces five boats shows, including the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the largest in-water show in the world.
