Alfa Tec, a Seattle-based marine sales and service distributor, recently acquired FM Equipment, a Houma, La.-based distributor for Alfa Laval Marine, Oil and Power in the Gulf Coast region.

"This is all part of our master plan to supply superior service, spare parts and technical support to our customers located in the Gulf," said Kevin Oakley, president of Alfa Tec, in a statement.

Alfa Tec was founded in 1993 as Alfa Laval Inc.'s exclusive distributor to the marine industry on the West Coast and in Alaska. In 2007, Alfa Tec expanded its operations to the East Coast and Gulf Coast regions by opening a second location in Tampa, Fla.

The Seattle facility covers the marine, power, fish processing, food, thermal, industrial and oil-field markets, while the Tampa location focuses on centrifuges, watermakers, heat exchangers, oily water separators and pumps.
