America’s Cup goes green with ‘Clean Regatta’ pledge

Sailors for the Sea is partnering with the 34th America’s Cup to provide advice and support about minimizing the race’s environmental impact and to educate participants and fans about the importance of preserving coastal and ocean health.

As the official Clean Regattas partner to the event, Sailors for the Sea has worked closely with the America’s Cup Event Authority to support its sustainability program, which includes activities aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of the this year’s event.

The America’s Cup Event Authority, with the support of Sailors for the Sea, pledged to make all of the America's Cup World Series, the Louis Vuitton Cup and the 34th America's Cup events in San Francisco certified Clean Regattas.

Sailors for the Sea and the America’s Cup Event Authority will hold a joint press conference Aug. 10 to discuss their commitment to make the Cup a sustainable event. It is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. at the media center press conference room at AC Park, Pier 27/29.
