The Association of Marina Industries announced the four marinas that will be involved in its workshop, “Marina Makeover: An Interactive Experience,” which takes place Nov. 16-17 in Rosemont, Ill.
The case study marinas for this year’s workshop are the Fernandina Harbor Marina in Fernandina Beach, Fla., Marina Pez Vela in Costa Rica, Rex Cove Marina in Norwalk, Conn., and Windmill Marina Association in Afton, Minn.
Ranging in size, amenities and regions, the properties will present a challenge to workshop participants in an effort to increase their learning potential. Participants are asked to use creativity, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to redesign one of these properties and come up with the best profit ideas. Each group will present to the entire class, with the goal of leaving with numerous ideas to take back to their own facilities.
The workshop also will include an optional tour of the 31st Street Harbor in Chicago and a presentation by Scott Stevenson, executive vice president at Westrec Marinas. The tour will take place on the morning of Nov. 19, prior to the start of the workshop. Industry suppliers will be on hand to share their expertise and help participants work through their case study.
