AMI tool details economic impact of marinas

The Economic Impact Calculator is a tool that lets a marina input gross revenues to calculate its impact on the local economy.

Fifty-seven marinas across the nation are contributing an average $25,823,633 to the U.S. economy and providing 247 jobs, according to the Association of Marina Industries.

The Economic Impact Calculator is a tool that lets a marina input gross revenues to calculate its impact on the local economy.

Information produced by this model is valuable to marina owners and managers who can use the impact figures to justify construction or expansion, to obtain grant funds such as Boating Infrastructure Grants, or to prove the value of their business to community leaders, according to a statement from the Association of Marina Industries.

Lenders can benefit from this tool by having a knowledge of the properties that they are looking to finance or that they have acquired, the group said.

As more marinas use this tool, AMI hopes to build a comprehensive picture of just how economically valuable marinas are to local, regional, and country-wide economies.
