Boating Writers International announced that it is accepting applications for its annual BWI/Active Interest Media Boating Scholarship through Jan. 15.

(Title sponsor Active Interest Media is the parent company of Soundings Trade Only.)

The $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate college student who demonstrates a passion for boating media and has a clear career goal in the areas of writing, photography, broadcast film or art.

“Our future in the changing media landscape depends on attracting a new crop of talented, young individuals to steer the ship,” said AIM Marine Group president Gary DeSanctis. “Once again, we are thrilled to sponsor the annual BWI scholarship for those interested in entering boating media as their profession.”

To be eligible, students must be enrolled in an undergraduate program. A downloadable application is available here. Email scholarship committee chair Robert Beringer at robertberinger@yahoo.com for more information.

The scholarship recipient will be named at the Miami International Boat Show in February.

Soundings Trade Only is part of the AIM Marine Group, along with Anglers Journal, PassageMaker, Power & Motoryacht, Sail, Soundings and Yachts International.
