Asia Boating Awards will be handed out Friday

The boating market in the Far East continues to grow and draw the attention of Western manufacturers seeking market share.

The annual Asia Boating Awards was created by Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating magazines in 2005. The aim is to recognize the best of the high-end yachting industry in Asia and internationally, and the awards are considered a benchmark for the industry in the Asia-Pacific region.

The list of nominees for the 2013 BMW Asia Boating Awards, which will take place Friday at the InterContinental Sanya Resort in the coastal city of Sanya, China, was released. The nominees in the 20 categories — which showcase Asian builders and international brands, as well as Asian regattas, marinas and yacht designers working in Asia — include “some new and exciting entries, as well as some industry stalwarts,” according to a show press release.

Some of the nominees known in the Western market include Beneteau (France), Feadship (Netherlands), Ferretti (Italy), Lürssen (Germany), Ocean Alexander (Taiwan), Sunseeker (United Kingdom) and Sea Ray (United States).
