The Marsh Harbour Championship, the third leg of the 2016 Bahamas Billfish Championship, was held June 1-4 at Abaco Beach Resort.

Second-leg winner Uno Mas won again. The crew of the 69-foot Bayliss released two blue marlin and a white marlin on the second day of the tournament and went on to release another blue on the third day to secure the victory.

Second place went to last year’s BBC champion, Wave Paver, a 61-foot Garlington, which made the scoreboard on the first day by releasing a blue marlin. Sandrita, a 62-foot Ocean, placed third, releasing a sailfish on the first day.

The $1 Million Dollar Marlin remains up for grabs. The BBC will issue the award to the angler who catches a blue marlin that breaks the current Bahamas record of 1,119 pounds.

The fourth and final leg of the series will be held from Wednesday through Saturday this week in Treasure Cay.

Overall leaders after the first three legs are: first place, Uno Mas with 7,500 points; second place, Sandrita, with 5,450 points; and third place, Bamboo with 5,400 points.

The Bahamas Billfish Championship is produced and managed by the Active Interest Media Marine Group. AIM owns Soundings Trade Only.
