Boat-trailer manufacturing boosts Minnesota town

Two construction projects, including one that will house a marine-related company, are a boost for the New York Mills, Minn., economy.

Midwest Industries, of Ida Grove, Iowa, will pay rent on a new building and build boat trailers that will be sold to Lund Boats. The other new construction is the Lumber Depot.

“We as a city are excited about both of these projects. Our mayor, city council, city staff and residents see this as a big boost for economic development,” New York Mills city clerk Darla Berry told the Fergus Falls Journal newspaper.

“Both of these projects result in new jobs for New York Mills,” Berry added. “We’re talking about 10 to 15 new jobs at Midwest and six employees at Lumber Depot. That’s a significant increase for a town like ours.”
